oddiction.net is back up and this is the first update in well over 2 years. The website has been migrated to a hopefully, more stable hosting. The last hosting had a whole lot of downtime because it was under constant DDOS attacks or server errors. With the moving and Winter cleaning, the oddiction.net website also got a new, faster loading and cleaner look. Continue reading “Back again, new hosting, new site look” »
The first half of 2015 flew by in warp speed! So far I’m really excited about the software releases that I was given chance to work on and others that are still works in progress. Most of my time and effort has been going helping out my friend and Synth-Guru Rob Papen. After the release of RAW and QUAD-RE, the entire team has been sweating bullets on the newest Rack Extension called Vecto-RE. With the most recent version of this RE, 128 of my patches and Combinators are included in the factory sound library. And already working on new ones since the most recent update received some really cool new features. Continue reading “2015 so far, so good!” »
When you’re pioneering rough dance music there is always the need for more brutal and more aggressive sounds. From kickdrums that create bowl movements to ripping leads and screeches that make ears bleed, as producer you always want to push them to the next level. There is a thing all these sounds have in common; distortion! Distortion is a little bit like ketchup, everything gets better with it! The more you pour on it, the better it tastes! The only difference; if you start tweaking the RAW knobs in this VST……. The hot-sauce oozes out!
Here we go again! Just a wee bit time has past after the release of Punch-BD, but at the Papen factory the coarse seems to be full-speed ahead! The newest release is called QUAD and it’s a Reason Rack Extension (RE). The main concept of this beast is Subtractive synthesis, but you can alter, sculpt and distort the sound with the Phase distortion and/or Wave Shaper part of the rack. QUAD is a very versatile synth and I had a ton of fun making patches for it!

When you build a house, you need a strong foundation, when you start a new track you need the exact same thing. Rob Papen’s Punch-BD is a very good starting point to begin a new track. This newest RP VST is based around the bassdrum module of the multi award winning Punch virtual drum synthesizer. Been beta testing the newest RP plugin for quite a while now and I’ve thrown together some nasty sounding sonic mayhem in 3 hard hitting presetbanks. Continue reading “Rob Papen’s Punch-BD” »
As of this week I’m able to do sound design and beta testing in a new DAW! The people at Propellerheads hooked me up with Reason 7. So I will be using that along Steinberg’s Wavelab 8 Elements, Cubase 7,5 and Presonus StudioOne v2 Professional.
The last few months I have been doing sound design and beta testing on Rob Papen‘s Blue-II. In that period of testing I made well over 400 sounds for this new synthesiser and loved every single minute of time I spend working with it. I selected enough sounds to make 3 complete soundbanks, these are all included in the factory sounds. Some patches I kept to myself for tracks I’m currently working on and some of them got binned during the process. But no worries, there will be more OddI sounds for sure 😉
First month of the year is over and although it didn’t start all that well for me, it played out to be a pretty good month. Traffic on my website increased massively, almost 1600 unique visitors from all over the world, now that did put a smile on my face! I also took sound design for myself to the next level and got back up to speed with Cubase 7.5. Continue reading “31 Days later” »
It’s always hard to keep something quit when working on something really cool! A few weeks ago I started working on sounds for the Rob Papen instruments. At this moment I finished my first soundbanks for Blade, Predator and SubBoomBass, while currently working on one for Blue. The sounds will be available for registered users at robpapen.com and added to the instruments in future updates. Continue reading “Sound design for Rob Papen” »
